Can you apply thermoplastic to concrete?

Yes, although thermoplastic is designed to adhere to bitumous surface with the applicaiton of a tack coat pimer first thermoplastic can be applied to a tampered concrete but does not perform as well as it does on tarmac. Other options for concrete can be paint or MMA line marking products.

Can line markings be applied to block paving?

Yes, thermoplastic (with tack coat primer), MMA and Paint can be applied to block paving. How ever, the following points need to be considered: Due to the natural movement in block paving Thermoplastic & MMA will crack in the joints an may delaminate from the surface of the blocks. We strongly suggest to not apply line markings to block paving during the wet winter months (October - March). Most block paved areas sit on a bed of sand, this substrate will hold moisture. Although the surface of the block may appear to be dry, the application of a lining material will cause a capillary action drawing the moisture to the surface of the block cause the line marking to fail and delaminate.

Can you apply thermoplastic internally?

No, thermoplastic is best suited to external bitumous surfaces. If applied internally the thermoplastic line marking will turn black as it is not exposed to the natural elements (rain).

Do you work Nationwide?

For a large job/contract yes, for smaller works we normally suggest you speak to a more local contractor to your site, as they would be far more competitive on price.

What is the best suited line marking for internally power floated concrete?

Power floated concrete can be a difficult surface to gain adhesion to as it is so smooth and has no key. We would normally apply an etch primer coat followed by a paint line follwed by a sealer top coat. If the customers budget allows we would also advise you surface prepare via captive shot to proivde a key to the surface.

Thermoplastic is a plastic material which is heated until it is molten and applied to a bituminous road surface. When it comes into contact with the road surface it cools and hardens to form a long lasting marking. Paint is applied cold using an airless spraying machine. It is traditionally used indoors in car parks, warehouses etc and on concrete or paved surfaces.
